Recommended Ultraviolet Light Installation
You or a service person need to trace the Ultraviolet Light unit's outline onto a sidewall of your return ductwork. Cut out a small area in which the UV germicidal lamp unit will be inserted. After installing the Ultraviolet Light into the cut out area you must seal the opening. Duct tape works as well as AC tape. You will need to plug the cord into a regular house outlet. You can also put the UV light in the return grill or in the air handler.
You can put the UV light other places in the house, out of SIGHT . But be aware, the UV light will fade furniture, carpets, etc. The UV unit comes with a standard twelve foot cord length. You will need to replace the ultraviolet bulb at least once per year. However, twice per year is recommended. The ultraviolet bulb has a rating of 8000 hours.
